Facility management has evolved in recent years owing to the increasing reliance on modern technology, necessitating facility managers to possess the skills needed to integrate these technologies into their practices effectively while aligning Facility Condition Index the operational processes with broader organisational objectives, regulatory requirements, energy efficiency and sustainability goals. This research article draws on recent professional consultation, surveys, and in-depth analysis from 118 different commercial and industrial properties to examine the emerging and growing impact multiple building operating systems are having on the facilities management workforce, the challenges they face, and the secondary implications associated with strategic maintenance decisions and asset lifecycle assessments.
